Curtis P. Berlinguette, PhD

Co-founder & CEO

Dr. Curtis P. Berlinguette heads a team of scientists and engineers that are developing innovative thin film technologies. Dr. Berlinguette has an extensive track record of working with leading multinational industry partners to translate fundamental discoveries to the marketplace. Dr. Berlinguette is also a Canada Research Chair in Energy Conversion and CIFAR Fellow at The University of British Columbia.

Mike Slowik, M.Eng., MBA

Vice President, Business Development

Mike Slowik is an executive with 15 years of experience in growing disruptive technology companies with extensive background in business development, deal structuring, commercialization, product development, and finance. He has broad industry knowledge in “hard tech” covering advanced materials, clean-tech, chemicals, and 3D printing across a wide variety of industries. He has navigated two university startups through initial growth, financing, and acquisition. The companies raised nearly $100M from Saudi Aramco, Sabic, DSM Chemicals, Stanley Black & Decker, the US Department of Energy, and traditional venture capitals. Mike Slowik received a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Princeton and MBA from Cornell.

Ryan Smith, JD, MBA

Co-founder, Executive Chairman

Ryan Smith is an entrepreneur and practicing lawyer with over 15 years of training and experience gained at top-tier law firms in Canada. Smith brings strategic direction and business acumen to Click Materials Corp. Responsibilities include corporate governance, investor relations, and the facilitation of the commercialization of Click Materials Corp. proprietary technologies. Smith received his Law degree from the University of Alberta in 2000, and his Executive MBA from the University of Calgary in 2012.

Simon Trudel, PhD


Dr. Simon Trudel is an expert in amorphous thin films and a co-founder of Click Materials Corp. Dr. Trudel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience Program at the University of Calgary and a founding member of the Centre for Advanced Solar Materials. Dr. Trudel has authored over 20 scientific articles on the study of structure-property relationships of advanced nanostructured materials.
